Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Xtreme Player (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) handles information when you use our mobile applications on iOS and Android. We built Xtreme Player as a local-first media player. We do not require you to create an account to play files on your device.
1. Information we collect
Xtreme Player is designed to keep your media on your device and your servers. We collect limited information only as described below.
Information stored on your device
- Media library metadata (titles, posters, playback position, favorites, and similar app data)
- App settings (appearance, language, skip intervals, passcode preferences)
- Credentials and connection details you choose to save for Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, NAS/SMB, FTP, cloud storage, IPTV playlists, and other network sources
- Downloaded subtitles and cached artwork
This data stays on your device unless you back it up through your operating system (for example, iCloud or Google backup) or explicitly share it.
Usage and diagnostic data
We use Google Firebase services to improve stability and understand how features are used:
- Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage events such as screen views, button taps, tab selection, and non-sensitive setting changes. Media identifiers are shortened or hashed before being sent; we do not transmit full file paths.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and diagnostic logs to help us fix bugs. Reports may include device model, OS version, and app version.
We do not show third-party advertising in the app.
Information you provide voluntarily
If you contact us for support or feedback (for example, by email from Settings), we receive the information you include in your message, such as your email address and any details you choose to share.
2. Device permissions
Depending on how you use the app, Xtreme Player may request access to:
- Photos / media library — to browse and play videos stored on your device
- Local network — for WiFi file transfer, discovering network shares, and connecting to media servers on your home network
- Face ID / biometrics — only when you enable Passcode Lock, to unlock the app
- Storage — to import, download, and manage media files
You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission.
3. Third-party services
When you connect to external services, their privacy policies apply to data handled by those services. Xtreme Player may interact with:
- Media servers — Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, and similar servers you configure
- Network and cloud storage — SMB/NAS, FTP, Dropbox, Google Drive, and other providers you authorize
- IPTV and streaming URLs — sources you add
- TMDB — to fetch movie and TV metadata and artwork when you use online metadata matching
- OpenSubtitles — when you search for or download subtitles
- Google Firebase — analytics and crash reporting as described above
We do not control how these third parties collect or use data. Please review their policies before connecting an account or service.
4. WiFi Transfer
When you enable WiFi Transfer, the app runs a local web server on your device so you can upload or manage files from a browser on the same network. Files are transferred directly to your device. We do not receive or store the contents of those transfers on our servers.
5. How we use information
We use the limited data described in this policy to:
- Provide playback, library organization, and network streaming features
- Remember your preferences and saved server connections
- Diagnose crashes and improve performance
- Understand which features are used so we can improve the app
- Respond to support requests you send us
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only:
- With service providers that help us operate the app (such as Google Firebase), under their terms and privacy policies
- With third-party services you choose to connect (Plex, cloud storage, subtitle providers, etc.)
- When required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public
7. Data retention
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics and crash data retained by Firebase is governed by Google’s Firebase Privacy Policy. You can reset local app data by clearing the app’s storage or reinstalling.
8. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information processed by the app, including optional passcode lock. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure; you are responsible for securing your device and server credentials.
9. Children’s privacy
Xtreme Player is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal information. Because most data is stored locally on your device, you can often exercise these rights directly through the app or your device settings.
On iOS and Android you can limit analytics through your device privacy settings where available. To stop crash reporting collection, you may need to uninstall the app or contact us for guidance.
11. International users
Firebase and other providers may process data in countries other than your own. By using the app, you understand that information may be transferred to facilities located outside your jurisdiction, with safeguards as required by applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
